I don’t tend to put people up on pedestals, but there is a group that is very special to me, and that is our veterans! They are my heroes!
Some were called to make the ultimate sacrifice, and lay down their lives in battle. Others did not lose their lives, but they were willing to, and they knew it was a possibility when they signed up to serve. All our veterans have made sacrifices for us. Many who returned home came back with broken bodies. Many came home with memories that would trouble them for the rest of their lives. Let’s not forget the sacrifices made by military families, and let’s not forget to pray for those who are currently serving.
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
Those words were spoken by Jesus, who made the ultimate sacrifice for us on the battlefield against sin. He died on the Cross to pay the penalty for our sin, and rose again to win the victory over sin and death. Whoever believes in Jesus, confessing their sin and accepting Him as Lord and Saviour, will be forgiven and have eternal life.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1)
I am writing this toward the end of the day. This has been a very special Remembrance Day, because it’s the 100thanniversary of the end of WWI, and it has taken place on the Lord’s Day. On this day, as we celebrate the freedom we enjoy in Canada, even more we celebrate the freedom we enjoy in Christ. He is the ultimate Veteran, and our greatest Hero!
Today’s Good News is that you can have peace with God, through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Now, go share the Good News…
