We have come to the final section in our series on James. We have eight more verses, and the first six of them mention prayer. A major theme of James is perseverance under trials, and the key to perseverance is prayer. How appropriate that James opens his letter with perseverance, and closes his letter with prayer…
Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. (James 5:13)
Prayer and Praise have always been two important activities of the Church. Notice that James’ readers were not all experiencing the same thing at the same time. Some of them were happy, and some of them were in trouble.
At any one time in a church congregation, some of the saints will be celebrating, and some of the saints will be suffering. God places His people together in church families so that we can help each other. Sometimes you will be hurting and I will pray with you. Sometimes I will be hurting and you will pray with me.
Today’s Good News is that prayer and praise are tools we’ve been given to put our Faith in Action!
Now, go share the Good News…
