Yesterday, James told us to be patient, like the farmer who waits the whole growing season for the crops to mature…
You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. (James 5:8)
I think we can apply this verse a couple of ways. In one sense, James is telling us to be patient in our trials, because they will soon be over when Jesus comes back. In another sense, James is telling us to be patient with the Lord, for His timing is always perfect.
You may be wondering why it is taking Jesus so long to return. Why doesn’t He just come back and take us out of this mess? You will find a great answer to that question if you read 2 Peter 3. God is patiently waiting for more people to get saved. He is asking us to be patient, too, because every day that He tarries is a day that more people are turning to Jesus. As my dad has said through the years, I am glad that Jesus didn’t come back the day before I got saved.
Today’s Good News is that God is patiently waiting for more people to get saved.
Now, go share the Good News…
