Disorder and Chaos

August 8, 2018

James has been describing worldly wisdom, which leads to jealousy and selfish ambition…

For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.  (James 3:16)

When we live by the world’s values, we live for ourselves. When we live for ourselves, we do sinful things.  When we do sinful things, it leads to disorder and chaos in our lives.  When our lives are in chaos, it leads to disorder in our family.

Over the years in my role as a pastor, I heard about a lot of families in disorder.  I often wished that I could sit down with entire families and give them biblical counselling.  Even if they had given me that opportunity, it wouldn’t have helped much unless people were willing to let go of their pride and live for others, instead of themselves.

The good news is that we don’t have to live in chaos.  We don’t have to let our selfishness bring disorder and to our family.  We don’t have to run on worldly wisdom.  There is a better way to live.  There is a better wisdom to follow, which James will tell us about tomorrow…

Today’s Good News is that Jesus can bring order out of our chaos.

Now, go share the Good News…
