Better Late Than Never

May 1, 2018

Have you cut your grass yet?  I have not, but it’s finally starting to grow, so I plan to cut it soon.  In our corner of the world we had an unseasonably cold month of April.  Spring-like weather has been late in arriving, so we’ve waited longer this year for the grass and flowers to grow.

This season gives me an appreciation for how God must feel as He waits for my spiritual growth.  It is often a very slow process.  I show some signs of growth, but then I get stalled because my faith turns cold again.  I am glad that He is patient with me.

The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.  (2 Peter 3:9)

This verse is part of a chapter in which Peter explains why Jesus has not come back yet to this world.  He is patiently waiting for more people to get saved.  He is so very patient with us.  He patiently waits for us to accept Him as our Saviour.  Then, He patiently waits for us to grow in our faith.  Some of us are late bloomers, but thanks be to God, springtime does eventually come for God’s Children.  Just like spring this year, it is better late than never.

Today’s Good News is that you can accept Jesus today and start growing in your faith, even if you find yourself later in life.  But don’t put it off any longer – you don’t know that you will be here tomorrow!

Now, go share the Good News…
