Remembering Our First Love

April 10, 2018

In Revelation 2 and 3, Jesus gave the apostle John personal messages for seven churches in Asia.  These messages continue to speak to the Church today.  The first one was for the church at Ephesus.  After commending them for several things, Jesus offered this one correction:

“Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.  Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works…”  (Revelation 2:4-5a NKJV)

A couple struggling in their marriage may go to a marriage counselor for help.  That counselor may encourage them to remember the reasons they first fell in love.  It’s an exercise that can help a marriage, and it can also help strengthen our relationship with Christ.

In our Christian walk it is easy to leave our first love for Jesus, and get complacent in our faith.  It is good to remember why we fell in love with Him in the first place, and return to that first love.

Beginning tomorrow, I plan to tell you What I Love about Jesus.  Please join me here for the next nine days (April 11-19) as we review nine character qualities about Jesus that should help us fall in love with Him all over again.  Please tell your family and friends about this website, and invite them to read Today’s Good News.

Today’s Good News is that Jesus loves you with a perfect love that will not fade.
